While B2C commerce underwent a digital transformation more than 15 years ago, with online platforms replacing paper catalogues and manual processes, the B2B sector has lagged behind. Many companies still rely on tools such as Excel spreadsheets, PDF orders, and fragmented email or fax communications.
Despite the French B2B e-commerce market being valued at nearly €360 billion in 2024, the adoption of artificial intelligence remains low, with only 10% of companies with more than ten employees using AI tools. French-Italian startup Volta aims to change that by helping small and mid-sized companies modernise their operations.
Today, Volta Software has raised an additional €5 million, led by RTP Global, bringing its total funding to €11 million. The new funding follows a €6 million round less than a year ago. Over the past six months, the company has generated more than €1 million in additional revenue as adoption among retailers accelerates.
“We’re building a new standard for B2B distribution players with Volta. Our AI platform integrates with existing systems (ERP, PIM, etc.), automates up to 90% of manual tasks, and gives sales teams back what really matters: time for their customers and growth for their business,” said Paul Guillemin, CEO and co-founder of Volta.
The company plans to utilise the fresh capital to expand its team, strengthen its AI-driven platform, and scale its commercial rollout across Europe.
Digital transformation to B2B commerce
Founded in 2024 by Paul Guillemin and Mario Parteli, Volta helps B2B distributors and suppliers centralise and digitise orders, automate repetitive tasks, and help sales teams uncover new growth opportunities.
Guillemin told TFN, “Volta was created to accelerate the digital transformation of B2B commerce, a sector still dominated by manual and fragmented processes. While B2C underwent its digital revolution over 15 years ago, B2B remains largely dependent on Excel sheets, emails, and PDFs. We saw an opportunity to put AI at the service of sales and administrative teams, helping them become faster, more efficient, and more focused on customer relationships.”
Volta’s platform centralises and digitises orders, automates up to 90% of manual tasks, and helps sales teams uncover growth opportunities. Key features include dynamic catalogue management, automatic email-to-order conversion, real-time sales activity tracking, and an AI assistant that identifies business opportunities.
Guillemin elaborated, ” Volta’s AI-powered platform integrates with existing ERP, CRM, and PIM systems. It brings together three key pillars: unify (centralise company data and all order channels), automate (eliminate up to 90% of manual tasks such as order entry and price updates), and amplify (transform data into growth with personalised recommendations and AI-guided decisions). This modular, connected approach differentiates Volta from single-purpose tools.”
Volta stands out in a competitive landscape alongside Odoo, Sana Commerce, and Handshake, aiming to digitise B2B commerce and help companies leap forward technologically, where many have lagged. The company’s modular, AI-driven solution is designed to become the new standard for distribution players.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, Guillemin concluded, “Volta’s priority is to consolidate its presence in France and Italy by strengthening local teams and industrialising deployments. The company plans to double its workforce within six months and to continue developing new AI agents (two to three every month) to support client growth. Its long-term goal is to become the European reference for B2B digitalisation through artificial intelligence.”
“We choose to support companies that are truly game-changers. That’s exactly what Volta is doing: Paul, Mario, and their team have proven their ability to transform B2B commerce through ambitious vision, rapid execution, and already impressive growth. Volta is building a new standard that is set to become the global norm,” said Thomas Cuvelier, Partner at RTP Global.
